When Vinfast went electric

VinFast delivered its first 45 US customer cars, VF 8 City Editions, on 1 March 2023, having started as a petrol-car maker only four years earlier. The VF 9 followed, and the company is building a plant in North Carolina to assemble cars for the US market.

Electric history, models and plugs

When did Vinfast start making electric cars?

Vinfast's first battery-electric model for the US was the VF 8, sold from the 2023 model year.

How many Vinfast electric models are there?

4 models are listed for Vinfast in this guide — VF 6, VF 7, VF 8, VF 9. 4 of them are current for model year 2024 or later, and model years run from 2023 to 2027.

What charging connector does Vinfast use?

Vinfast models in this guide use CCS1, J1772. A model can carry an AC inlet and a DC inlet at once, so the lists overlap; the model pages name the connector on each car, and the connector guides explain which stations each one fits.
